Global producer and marketer of the famous McVitie’s biscuits, Pladis has conducted its 2nd annual wholesalers conference in Accra on Friday March 5, 2017.
The conference which was staged at Christ the king Hall, liberation road, Accra witnessed 150 wholesalers and semi wholesalers from all over Ghana who were rewarded handsomely for their immense support that led to the growth of the company in diverse ways.
This year’s annual conference was the second of its kind since its inception a year ago.
It was an occasion for Pladis to highlight some important points to its trading partners in Ghana.
Top 2 customers, Gajrem Enterprise & Joint squares both operating at Okaishie market in Accra were rewarded with 2 brand new delivery vans while 13 other customers were equally honored for their extra-ordinary performance with rich sets of Samsung home appliances.
In addition, all guests, customers including McVitie’s sales team walked away with symbolic gifts and certificates of appreciation for their contribution towards uplifting the company’s image in 2016.
Addressing participants at the conference, West Africa Regional Manager for Pladis, Hassan Saad noted McVitie’s is now leading the biscuits category in Greater Accra because it’s now within the hand reach of every Ghanaian with the McVitie’s portion packs strategically priced at GH¢ 1.00.
He announced the original McVitie’s digestive brand will be celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year.
Mr. Saad revealed his outfit will soon be expanding its affordable range biscuit at GH¢ 1.00 namely with the chocolate chips Digestive and Hobnobspladis’s which will strategically help expand its portfolio in Ghana by launching Ulker (Turkey) and Haansbro (Nigeria) biscuits and confectionery.
This, he said will go a long way to offer the Ghanaian consumer high quality products at affordable prices.
“Pladis never gave up on Ghana in the past 5 years, being a strategic market for us, we have kept supporting our brand ,and our trading partners and Ghana paid us back in 2016 where we had a record year not only from value or volume perspectives but as well from market share and distribution perspectives” he stressed.
Mr. Hassan Saad maintained McVitie’s has indirectly helped created 120 jobs in Ghana recently but hinted plans are underway this year to see it increased to 150 jobs.
The event was also an occasion for the customers to interact directly with the West Africa Regional manager, Mr. Hassan Saad where he listened to their concerns, suggestions and answered their questions.
A renowned gospel music act, Ms. Ohemaa Mercy graced the event as guest of honour and personally assisted Pladis management on stage in handing over the awards and prizes to the trading partners & McVitie’s sales team as sign of appreciation for their immense contribution towards the growth of the company in 2016.

The occasion was equally an avenue for McVitie’s team to update its trading partners on their marketing activities in 2016 and also shared plans for 2017, where major part of spending and attention will be focused on product sampling to give Ghanaian consumers a chance to have the taste of their wholesome, delicious and high quality biscuit.
