Airtel Ghana has presented a cash prize of GHC 150,000 to Daniel Yaw Kumafo, a Credit Officer at MASLOC based in Ho, in the Volta region for accumulating the highest points at the end of the Wo Mmere Nie promotion. He beat close completion from Mustapha Toufik and Samuel Obeng Amoako Jnr, the first and second runners-up respectively.
Wo Mmere Nie, the telecom industry’s biggest and most rewarding recharge promotion was introduced in February to reward customers and to empower them to make their dreams come true. The massively patronized promotion rewarded some 2.7 million customers with airtime, data bundles, smartphones and cash prizes over the period of the promo.
The two runners-up, Mustapha and Samuel both walked away with GHC 100,000 and GHC 75,000 cash putting the total cash pay out to the three finalists at GHC 325,000.
Presenting the ultimate prize at a massively patronized ceremony in Kumasi, Rosy Fynn, Marketing Director, Airtel Ghana said “Wo Mmere Nie has truly been a phenomenal promotion for our customers. When we took the bold decision to launch this promo in February, our objective was clear – to make the dreams of our customers come to life and we have done just that. The promo was overwhelmingly accepted across the country and we are delighted for the opportunity to reward and impact the lives of more than 2.7 million customers through Wo Mmere Nie”.
She continued “Ours is a brand that is deeply committed to enriching the lives of our customers through our innovative products and services as well as promotions such as Wo Mmere Nie. We will continue to enrich the lives of our customers now and in the future.
I want to congratulate Daniel, Mustapha and Samuel for winning the top three cash prizes and to every customer that participated – you are all winners.”
Rosy Fynn was assisted by Airtel Ghana’s Director for Sales and Distribution, Samuel Sarpong and Head of Corporate Communications, Richard Ahiagble to present the prizes to the top winners.
An overly excited Daniel Kumafo said “This is certainly the happiest day of my life. When Wo Mmere Nie was launched I was determined to be part of it because it sounded exciting and it was not a game of chance. Knowing you can accumulate points by recharging and playing the SMS trivia, I decided to give it a go. And it has genuinely paid off. I have won several prizes throughout the promo including monthly and weekly cash prizes and a smartphone but today, I am excited to be the ultimate winner. This money will go into investments. Thank you very much Airtel Ghana. You are simply the best!”
Mustapha Toufik, an Accra based transport worker who picked up GHC 100,000 cash said “Words cannot describe how I feel right now. This promo has truly made a difference in my life and I want to thank Airtel Ghana for organizing such a credible promo. I am investing my prize money to expand my business and to create opportunities for others”.
Samuel Obeng Amoako Jnr, a Community Development Officer at Adenta Municipal Assembly praised Airtel Ghana for introducing the promo. Like the other two winners he intends to invest his prize money. He intimated “I said before and I will say it again, this is the most credible promotion I have ever participated in and I want to say kudos to Airtel Ghana. I had my eyes on the ultimate prize but I am truly excited to be the recipient of GHC 75,000 in addition to the several prizes I won in the promo. I will encourage all customers of Airtel to actively participate in future promotions because they are genuine”.
