The Danquah Institute has held a lecture to mark its 10th anniversary on the theme: “Enquiry and Advocacy: The Think Tank As a Democratic Imperative”.
The Institute which was founded in the year 2008 was named after one of founding Ghana’s founding father, former J. B Danquah.
The Danquah Institute as a Think Tank has a body of experts who provide advice and ideas in public, political and economic issues.
Danquah Institute was the first in this country to associate themselves with the right political party,the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and to espouse ideals of Vental Rights and to make reforms when necessary.
The Institute later lead to the Pressure Group “Let My Vote Count Alliance which pushed for a new and credible voter’s register ahead of the 2016 elections.
As a result it has carved a niche for itself to be hailed as one of the great contributors to the success of 2016 election owing to its credibility it has registered in history of Ghana.
In a speech delivered at the the ceremony, Nana Bediatuo As ante, the Secretary to the president of Ghana said, the Institute played a key role in ensuring the 2012 presidential election petition was televised on the National Television for Ghanaian to see what happened in the supreme court.
He further stated that, the step they took gave a tangible meaning to the constitutional provision Act, Article 1263.
There ceremony witnessed presentation of citation to some individuals who contributed their quota to the success of the institute since its inception.
