Joseph Kobla Wemakor is a multiple award winning journo, Founder and Editor-In-Chief of Ghananewsone.com, Ghana’s most powerful online news portal.
He is a blogger/freelance journalist and a prolific writer with remarkable reporting skills writing for many news websites in Ghana such as Myjoyonline.com, Ghanaweb.com, Modernghana.com, Newsghana.com, 3news.com, and Awakenewsonline.com among others.
Apart from his achievements, he serves as the Greater Accra Regional Senior Coordinator for Showbiz Network Ghana’s (SBN’s), Inter Tertiary Excellence Awards (ITEA) 2018. (An award scheme that seeks to acknowledge the achievements of exceptional tertiary students making significant impact in Ghana).
Mr. Wemakor among top 18 African Financial Journalists was selected to participate in a 2-days intensive Media Workshop on Intra-Africa Trade, Business and Financial Reporting” organized by African Export-Import Bank(Afreximbank) in Casablanca, Morocco.
He has also participated in a 4-member panel Media Roundtable Dialogue Series on TV license with renowned media experts and academicians including Mr. William Ampem Darko (Former Director General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation), Professor Abeiku Blankson ( Vice President of Ghana Telecom) and Rector of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ)-Professor Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo.
His advocacy bit won him a day training with other journalists on Sexual And Reproductive Health (SRHR) organized by the IPPF, PPAG and supported by SoAWR at the Swiss Spirit Alisa Hotel in Accra on October 3, 2018.
Joseph is currently furthering his studies at the Ghana Institute of Journalism(GIJ), a premium Communication University in West Africa, pursuing the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies-Public Relations
Joseph as part of his corporate social responsibility has assisted Corporate Organizations, NGOs/CSOs, UN Agencies, and International Organizations including individuals in Ghana in attaining their objectives. Some of these organizations he assists include Engage Now Africa (ENA), United Nations Information Centre (UNIC)Accra, UNFPA, UNDP, Purim African Development Youth Development Platform (PAYDP), Abibiman Foundation and Community and Family Aid Foundation(CAFAF), the Light Foundation Ghana (TLF) and United Nation University- Institute of Natural Resources (UNU-INRA) among others.
Joseph in his bid to augment his journalism career, has in the past had the opportunity to intern with leading Ghanaian media conglomerates including the Multimedia Group Limited (Joy FM, Myjoyonline.com and Joy News TV channel), Media General Ghana Limited(TV3 Network Ltd.) including a UN Organization; the United Nations Information Centre, Accra(UNIC).
With the aim of advancing the work of an emerging journalist covering Africa to strengthen people’s voices and improve their well-being, Joseph has committed to using his skills and knowledge to give voice to the voiceless of the society with the satisfaction which emanates from seeing policy changes and better lives for people through her stories. As a result, he was adjudged the most influential student media personnel of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ at the maiden edition of ‘Campus Clique’ award ceremony held on Friday, April 1, 2016.
Joseph has distinguished himself to be recognized as a member of some acclaimed media networks such as the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Network of Journalists, Media Migration Network(MMN), Coalition of People Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence(COPASH) and UNFPA Media, Communications and Advocacy Network (MCAN).

•Selected among the top 18 African Business Journalists who participated in the Media Workshop on Intra-Africa Trade, Business and Financial Reporting” organized by African Export-Import Bank(Afreximbank) from 7-8 November 2018 in Casablanca, Morocco.
•Participated in a week intensive course on “Geographic Information Systems & Remote Sensing for Professionals in Resource Management and Research” organized by the United Nations University-Institute for Natural Resources in Africa(UNU-INRA) from 8th-12thOctober 2018 in Accra, Ghana.
•Participated in 1-day training for journalists on SRHR organized by the IPPF, PPAG and supported by SoAWR on October 3, 2018, in Accra.
•Participated in a Forum on Budget 2019 organized by the Multimedia Group Limited(MGL) Joy News Channel and Joy FM on September 28, 2018.
•Participated in Forum on Internet Freedom 2018(FIFAfrica18) organized by CIPESA AND MFWA on September 27, 2018, in Accra at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel. It is a four-day program.
•Participated in a Media Roundtable Dialogues Series, a debate on TV license as panelists organized by the Ghana Institute of Journalism on September 11, 2018.
