The National Chief Imam His Eminence Sheikh Dr.Osman Nuhu Sharabutu has celebrated his one hundredth birthday.

In view of this, preceding the day, a brief ceremony has been held in his honour to celebrate his age milestone as part of activities to commemorate his birthday which is due Tuesday, 23rd April 2019.

The event was attended by Chiefs and traditional leaders from the Gadangme Muslim Organisations in the Greater Accra Region and people from all walks of life.

In a welcome address, the Chief of Fadama who was the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Sadiki Ridwan Abass urged Ghanaians to take inspiration from the centenarian who has in diverse ways touched the lives of many in positive ways.

He said the man is a peaceful man who heavily opposes tribalism and all forms of divisiveness and continually seeks the peaceful co-existence of man devoid of religious differences and violence.

Alhaji Abass said the celebration was significant by far in view of the fact that it was the first time a sitting national chief Imam is being celebrated at that age which has spiritual relevance to the cause of moslems and Ghanaians.

On his part, the President of the Gadangme Muslim Council, Sultan Ahmed Nii Nortey Caesar said we must all learn to emulate the peaceful attributes of the celebrant who has promoted and continues to call for peaceful co-existence with all shades and forms of humanity.

According to him, the man stands for peace and humility and has demonstrated this in all his dealings with humanity in his long tenure.
He said His Eminence by principle, does not focus on individualistic concerns but the broader concerns of society and humanity at large.

Sultan Caesar said though the man has every resource to live in one of the elitist well -resourced communities, he chose to live among the less endowed communities with all the inconveniences adding that he would be remembered for his humility, patience, tolerance among other notable virtues.

He said the spiritual leader is a philanthropist, peacemaker and nation-builder whose doors are open to many who throng his house regularly to receive charitable offers.

Another notable achievement in his honour, he said is the fact that he has strengthened the bonds of unity and coherence among the muslim community whilst bridging the gap between Muslims and Christians.

The Gadangme Muslim Council supported financially and presented a citation in his honour part of which read “an individual has not started living until he or she can arise above the arrow continues of his or her individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of humanity. And you are such a one”.

His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Sharubutu was presented with assorted drinks and beverages from well-wishers whilst a three-tier cake cutting ceremony was performed in his honour.
